I spend hours and hours in front of my computer trying to....understand...what is and will happen soon....and so to my jabbed family sees me in the same way those people looked to you- completely unavailable. And it's true. I am, to them, not available because they have already judged me to be some kinda crazy. I am not pleasant to be around. These links to 'folks like us' are my lifeline, my gauge on reality. So much more is making sense to me, why they needed to kill alot of folks; they just cant pay the 'bill' of our retirement come 2025 ish. Oh. OK. It's like they are doing a dine and dash, forgot their wallet. So they are killing everyone they can inside the restaurant, just to get out of paying the bill. Wow.

I can relate to the "dead eyes" of the muzzled faceless masses. These used to be people, individuals, and now they look all the same to me, faceless, nameless, non-descript.

I work in retail and, before the muzzle mandate, I worked day shifts. Being medically mask-exempt, I was "accommodated" into working night shift but, before that happened, something else happened... I came in as a customer, to purchase a dishwasher. I was not wearing a mask.

This other customer lady, nice enough, we chatted a bit before we were assisted by Nick, one of the associates.

After a while, she told Nick that, while her and I were talking, she thought there was something "different" about me, but she couldn't figure out what exactly, and it took her good 10 minutes before it dawned on her that I HAD A FACE, and a smile...

I'm really saddened about what happened to the humanity, all these stupid masks took away so much from the human interaction... Nobody recognizes anyone anymore, nobody even seems to care much about it. An army of walking zilches...

By living in Texas, which ignored much of this BS, I must only go 50 miles east to the Liberal State of Austin to notice this phenomenon. My little grandchildren (5 & 7) were transferred to a private Christian school near Austin at the beginning of the craziness. I told my son, "Ef college, you need to pay on the front end of their education," and so he is. They toyed with the mask mandate, and quickly dropped the idea. Covid worked its way through the staff members with no ill effect and my grandson brought it home (maybe - the test is so poor) without symptoms. I had to help with video-learning a few days and it was total chaos. The school dropped that practice, too. When Costco mandated masks, we stopped shopping there. When my husband's cardiology appointment occurred, he announced he had recovered from Covid and proceeded to his exam room. He asked the physician why he was masked and the doctor said, "I'm in a marching band and this is part of the uniform." Best answer to date. The mask proves which team you are on. I saw one with "I CARE" printed on it. Total horsesh$t. Should have said I'M AN IDIOT.

Powerfully disturbing.

The more protective measures there are the more their fear grows.

This afternoon, I walked into my neighborhood library, and ignored the 'mask required' at the entry door. This is a red state without mask rules except for the metro, which like so many in this country, is under blue control. I swiftly took my reserved book, checked out on the machine, and departed just before I was approached by a librarian. What a silly charade; this nonsense is way past due.

Lawrence I commend you for ditching the mask in a sea of masks. It is hard at first, but it starts with one person and then on the fence folks will peel of theirs eventually then your free breathing folk will outnumber the scared and fragile. I am in Utah and that is how it went about a year ago. People in Utah are generally polite so there were few confrontations. Many just gave me dirty looks or talked to their children loudly about my being inconsiderate. Luckily, with my face completely uncovered, they could appreciate my look of sympathy for their mental illness.

So try to go without as much as you can. You will soon see others beautiful faces again.

With some inbuilt preservation gene I have adopted a new look, I stand tall I walk with purpose I meet eyes and always make sure I give a smile to all those around me covered with a cloth over their faces, their heads usually hang down and stooped shouldered they shuffle past I consider if they really are petrified or are they just doing as they are told and I go about my business every cell in my body knows this is all wrong on so many levels it's separated me from the masses , masses I feel I can no longer go along with or even understand, psychologically it has a profound effect but I view this apocalypse as a barometer an instant snapshot of compliance, and it merely is just that and from where I sit it's worked spiffingly I really have misjudged most peoples ability to critically think know when something just doesn't add up this last two years has been a real eye opener and I live in a world I never thought possible.

Lawrence - This hits home. I feel this "situation" has exacerbated a tendency for people to disengage with each other in group settings, at work, on public transport - etc. I was recently a 50 something Grad Student in Interior Architecture with classmates in their 20's, 30's and 40's. It was fascinating to watch the degree to which students were really not engaging socially with each other during down time and before class. Most were on their phones and social media - sometimes during class if they could get away with it. I'll never forget taking an Uber with my then new co-workers to an industry event. I was in the back seat between two 30-somethings. Both on their phones looking at twitter and instagram. No one was conversing. Of course - there might always be exceptions - but increasingly I became alarmed. I was INVISIBLE. Needless to say - I'm working for myself now. I needed to leave that environment. Hence - my Substack identity - "A Mostly Analog Life". The masks just added a "fast forward" to where we were already headed.

A few months ago I participated in a protest against the mandates. I'm in a red state and many drove by us yelling, "Let's Go, Brandon" or "FJB", or honked their support. We also had people call us "Idiots", "Losers" or even flipped us the bird. Every time someone showed their disgust with us, one of the women in our group would smile and wave at them. Then she would mutter, "That's okay. You'll be dead soon."

I walked through the airport the other day after I finished a work trip, without a mask. I usually don’t look at faces, because most turn quickly away. But as I was getting off one of the moving walkways, I spotted someone else not wearing a mask quickly as I moved my head. I looked back at him, and we shared a genuine smile. It lifted my spirits and I hope it did his as well.

Beautiful but sad. Might be time for a trip to the wilderness with friends, far away from radio waves.

This is ridiculous (and sad). The Seinfeld show hilariously showcased the "Soup Nazi". The "Soup Nazi" is nothing compared to the Mask Nazis.

This makes me think of a meme I saw a while back: "Why fear a zombie apocalypse when you're already a zombie?" It was accompanied by a photo of masked idiots walking along staring at their phones. I believe the last 2 years have indeed turned people into transhuman zombies.

I see a generation of digital zombies, using their screens for entertainment instead of being well informed.
